COVID-19 UPDATE
We made the difficult decision to cancel 22 events for 2020 because of the travel and gathering restrictions brought by the pandemic. We hope to bring back Local Biz Camps in the future but for now we’re working with a great team of regional partners to bring virtual education opportunities to many people through their local SCORE, SBDC and Veteran Commission offices. Stay tuned and we’ll update everyone when camp is back on.

Local Biz Camps are half-day workshops that offer a unique and powerful interactive experience for small business owners and nonprofit professionals. Each event is hosted by local business leaders offering real-world, practical advice for growing revenue, lowering costs and improving the day-to-day experience of managing it all. Participants come away empowered, inspired and more connected to their own local business community. They also leave with a full library of free tools and templates to make use of all the topics and resources we discuss at camp.

Every Local Biz Camp offers powerhouse speakers and engaging peer discussion in a half-day event designed to
inspire & empower local businesses and nonprofits. We promise participants three things:

– No long, boring slide decks

– No over-your-head tech speak

– Absolutely no pushy sales agenda

Together, we are helping veterans who want to start or grow a business.

Local Biz Camps have always catered to any locally owned business, nonprofit or freelancer. Starting with the 2019-2020 season, Skills After Service became our title sponsor and we have since have worked to make sure that all of the great content our participants depend on around marketing, management, finance and mindset will now also include information that is specific to veteran-owned businesses. Many of our powerhouse national speakers are also veterans or have grown up in military families.

We also made the decision to continue to include civilian business owners because we firmly believe that having both groups represented in the same room is beneficial to all parties. For veteran participants, Local Biz Camp provides access to important information about starting or growing a business and the chance interact with other local business leaders and entrepreneurs, building their network and gaining new partnerships.

For civilian participants, Local Biz Camp is still that same great experience to gain new insight for growth strategies but now with the added bonus of participating alongside veteran business owners. Every day, 1600 veterans and their family members transition out of the military and either start a business or join the civilian workforce. Events like these, where both groups have a chance to meet other business owners, learning with and from each other, can help bridge gaps, raise awareness and for veterans and their families, it can help reduce some of the natural stress that comes from making the change from military life to the civilian world.

Veterans and their family members are able to attend Local Biz Camp free of charge thanks to our partnership with Transition Skills Training, Inc.

Tickets typically range from $30-50 depending on the location and length of the event. Transitions Skills Training provides scholarships for veterans that want to attend Local Biz Camps. We are so grateful that some of our national partners choose to provide funding to help make sure we are able to provide free access to this educational content for entrepreneurial veterans.

Anyone can sponsor veterans to attend Local Biz Camp. Click here to make a donation.
