Session Description
The most common challenge for veterans who transition out of the military into civilian life is transition stress, much of it from an inability to find meaningful work that leverages the service members’ time and experience while in service to the country. Conversely, many employers express concern with limited candidate pools, seeking out quality workers with leadership skills. This panel will look at different ways to solve both issues with good training, tech innovation and growing awareness.

Welcome Annie Powell Director of Business Development

Welcome Annie Powell Director of Business Development

Skills After Service is pleased to announce that Annie Powell is now the company’s Director of Business Development. Annie will be responsible for developing new business opportunities and creating customized solutions for our partners; specifically for the company’s growing Local Biz Camp series now in 30 cities, veteran skills training programs, and HR leadership certifications. She will also play a key role in a national roll-out of the Transition Hub, a state-by-state portal for veterans and their families who are making the shift from military life to the civilian workforce.

“We are so grateful to have Annie on this team,” says CJ Niehoff, Founder and Managing Director of Skills After Service. “She has a great deal of experience and success in working with key organizations in the industries we are working with. In her first two months with us, she has already demonstrated her knowledge and ability to lead, increase reach, grow awareness, strengthening relationships and driving new business.  As we continue to grow and expand our capabilities in service to veterans, Annie has already proven her value to us and will continue to be a key resource for our partners and for our staff.”

Annie brings over 25 years of management, business development and media relations experience to Skills After Service. She also brings personal experience as a founder and business owner to this role, an important factor as the company is highly engaged in providing guidance for veterans who want to start and grow their own businesses.  “I am over the moon to be joining Skills After Service,” says Powell. “My father fought in WW2. Participating in service to our American heroes is my way to honor him, and all of those who protect our country. Julie and CJ Niehoff are amazing creators and forces for good in this world, I am humbled to join them in this important mission.”
